As the last rounds of the standard season go back and forth, the cultivating for the end of the season games in the Eastern Conference is beginning to get down to business, as the Carolina Hurricanes hope to work their direction to a division title, while the Capitals attempt to climb towards the principal Wild Card spot when the two meet on Monday night.
The Hurricanes are attempting to spread the word about it that this their year to be competitor for Lord Stanley’s Cup. Coming into Monday, their 43-15-7 record makes them sit first in the Metropolitan Division, five focuses in front of the Pittsburgh Penguins. However, Carolina limps into this matchup, having lost five of their last seven egames, and are only 6-4-3 in the period of March subsequent to tumbling to the Dallas Stars in a shootout last Thursday.
Further down the standings, yet in an agreeable season finisher spot, are the Washington Capitals. The Caps come into the game sitting in the subsequent Wild Card spot in the East with 84 places, one back of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and nine back of the Hurricanes. They have played a great deal of hockey this end of the week, as this is their third game in four days, winning the initial two.
This will be the fourth and last gathering of the period between the two division rivals, and the Caps have had the Canes’ number. Washington has won the initial three gatherings this season, remembering wins for both D.C. also, Raleigh this month.
